Week 4- What a Busy Week!

Week 4 was a very big week for us- most of us had lessons to teach, and some of them were even observed by teachers at Longmen Junior High School and our supervising professors from the National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU).

Lessons

Rachel's and Bryan's lesson with Grade 7s.

There was an Air Defense exercise happening throughout Taiwan during the lesson, so everyone had to turn off all the lights. Rachel and Bryan had an interesting experience of conducting a lesson in the dark.

Outings

We also got to go follow two Year 9 classes who were going on excursions after they have completed their High School entrance examinations.

Firstly, we visited the Geology museum and Physics museum at National Taiwan University.

We also got the rare opportunity to visit the Taipei District Court. A representative of the District Court gave us an introduction to the courtroom and the roles of the various people in the courtroom. He also taught us courtroom etiquette, such as how to behave as an observer in a trial. Students later got to put their new knowledge into practice when they were allowed to visit other courtrooms where actual trials were in progress. Students could even choose to sit in an ongoing trial as an observer.

Students got to try on different court attires!

It was not all work and no play though. During the weekends, two HODs from the school brought some of us to Daxi Old Street, Shimen Dam and treated us to a fancy dinner at Yangmingshan.

The 4th week of our IP felt like an extremely long week because of the many lessons and outings that we were involved in over this week. Yet, it was meaningful as we had learnt a lot during the week. We also got to know both the students and Taiwan better during the many excursions we had. This week definitely ended off on a high note with our 1-day outing with the two teachers from Longmen Junior High School.
